PURPOSE
Erchana Murray-Bartlett Independent Pty Ltd (EMBI) and McPherson Independent Pty Ltd, are both Not-For-Profit organisations, established to engage and assist the community members of the McPherson Electorate to support our candidate, Enchara Murray-Bartlett, to campaign in the Federal seat of McPherson. EMBI was inspired by many of the volunteers who participated in the McPherson Listening Project, and had a desire to find a candidate that supported the values and qualities that were reflected in the McPherson Listening Project. EMBI is not aligned with any political parties and it is assisted by volunteers. The volunteers form Team Erchana.
EMBI promotes:
- democracy, accountability and transparency, in the political process.
- evidence-base and community consultation for leaders in the decision making process.
EMBI encourages positivity, fun and inclusion. We aim to promote a respectful and productive dialogue and encourage better engagement in the democratic process with a wide range of voters in the electorate.
TEAM ERCHANA CODE OF CONDUCT AND CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
This Volunteer Agreement outlines our mutual commitments and the standards of behaviour and expectations for the EMBI volunteers. This Agreement does not create an employment or contractor relationship between you and EMBI, and it may be cancelled at any time by either of us.
As a volunteer, I agree to the following:
Volunteers agree to behave in accordance with the EMBI Purpose (above), and the EMBI Approach, as set out below.
EMBI Approach
Be prepared
- prepare for the work you have agreed to do. Keep asking questions until you understand the task or issue;
- if you are doing a public-facing role or wearing an Erchana t-shirt in public, be prepared to answer questions from the public - if you don’t know the answer, take the persons contact details or find someone that can assist with the enquiry. Only provide information that you are sure of.
Be polite and demonstrate good behaviour
- demonstrate honest and decent behaviour.
- try to be as sustainable as possible when wearing your Erchana t-shirt. This means not using single-use plastics such as take-away coffee cups or plastic bags;
- obey laws, for example, don't jay-walk when wearing your t-shirt and don't park illegally if your car has an Erchana bumper sticker.
- be your best self. If they go low, go high, rise above and remain polite;
- don't engage in political arguments or point scoring;
- be gracious, friendly, welcoming and inclusive of everyone, including those with whom you may personally disagree.
Be positive and act in the best interests of EMBI, for example:
- focus on the issues not the messenger: EMBI believes in community consultation and listening, and understands that solutions can come from anywhere;
- EMBI generally does not advocate for policies, but supports the values and issues and concerns that were expressed in the McPherson Listening Report and other community consultation. Our aim is not just to criticise, but to state positively what issues we believe the community would like to address, and believe in addressing issues that are based on evidence.
