Transport and infrastructure for our growing city

The Gold Coast is the fastest growing economy in Australia - we’re projected to have over 1 million residents by 2050. This presents enormous opportunities, particularly with the 2032 Brisbane Olympics around the corner, but we need infrastructure and high quality, reliable public transport to support this growth.

Southern Gold Coasters are tired of sitting in traffic. Increasing gridlock is impacting our quality of life - it’s making it harder to get to work, costing local businesses time and money, and keeping families stuck in cars instead of spending time together.

McPherson has been a “safe” major party seat for decades and as a result we're just not getting our fair share when it comes to funding critical infrastructure. Projects get pushed down the list. Promises come and go.

As a strong, independent voice for the southern Gold Coast, my priorities will be:

  • Getting our fair share of infrastructure money: As a safe LNP seat we’ve been neglected for too long when it comes to critical infrastructure. The recent Federal budget included no infrastructure funding for the Gold Coast.
  • Delivering Federal Support for active transport infrastructure - Supporting grants and federal programs that fund safe walking and cycling links, especially around schools, and coastal paths—improving health, reducing congestion, and cutting emissions.
  • Future-Proofing the Gold Coast - I will advocate for federal policies that prioritise climate-resilient infrastructure, EV charging networks, and digital connectivity—ensuring Southern Gold Coast is ready for the next 30 years, not stuck in the past.

In relation to Light Rail Stage 4, I look forward to the Qld Government delivering its promised independent review which includes an exploration of all routes and modes, as well as a detailed analyses of costs, timelines, proposed land resumptions, and impacts to environmental habitats, historic sites, businesses, and residences. I invite all residents to have their say on future transport options for the southern Gold Coast here: https://www.statedevelopment.qld.gov.au/infrastructure/projects-and-programs/gold-coast-light-rail-stage-4   Consultation closes on 2 May 2025.
